Little Musicas

Music for early years

A joyful first step into music

Little Musicas provides a gentle introduction to music by teaching important concepts in a lively, playful way. Children build an early grounding in rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, timbre and texture before progressing to Little Musicas Two or an instrument.

Parents and guardians learn alongside the children in the introductory class, giving them practical ways to encourage music-making at home.

Inside the class

What happens each week

The familiar class format uses repetition to reinforce new ideas while adding fresh musical challenges each week.

  • A fun action song to begin
  • Clapping, stamping and percussion rhythm activities
  • Games, Boomwhackers and tonic sol-fa hand signs
  • A band session with guitars, bass, ukuleles and microphones
  • Demonstrations of violins, cellos and other instruments

Every child finds their own rhythm

Some children take a little time before joining every activity. Simply watching is still learning. Classes are completed together as a group, and parents or guardians remain with their child throughout the introductory session.
